Degree Requirements


In addition to the requirements of the academic major, students must comply with the General Academic Regulations for Graduation  and Undergraduate Academic Policies .  As part of these Policies, students must complete the General College Curriculum , which is based on the degree.

Admission Requirements for Teacher Education


In addition to general admission requirements for Campbell University, students seeking initial North Carolina Teacher Licensure must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program prior to their junior year. Admission requirements for Teacher Education include a 2.7 overall GPA, a grade of “C” or better on all content area and education courses and passing the Core Praxis Exam (or acceptable SAT/ACT scores). Please see your advisor in the Professional Education Department for all additional North Carolina Licensure Requirements.

Major Requirements


The Bachelor of Science degree with a major in middle grades education requires two concentration areas–chosen from the areas of social studies, language arts, mathematics, or science– in addition to the core curriculum and professional education courses.

Licensure Requirements for Middle Grades Education:


Students seeking licensure in middle grades education must choose a primary and a secondary area of concentration. Twenty-four hours of course work must be completed for a primary area of concentration, and eighteen hours of course work must be completed in the secondary area of concentration. A grade of “C” or better must be earned in all concentration area courses as well as all education courses and obtain passing Praxis II scores in content area.
