Continued emphasis (from the SPAN 231 and SPAN 232 classes) is on improving competency in speaking and understanding Latin American and Castilian Spanish and developing proficiency in the written language. There is a greater emphasis on speaking proficiency. Methods of instruction include lecture, group discussion, and essay writing as a process. Textual materials used include current events from news sources and the internet, essays from the textbook, and student essays for presentation and critique.
