NURS 460 - Essentials of Baccalaureate Nurse Generalist Practicum (6)
This course is an intensive practicum with the focus on the essentials of baccalaureate nurse generalist practice. The key components of the course are application of previously learned nursing concepts, precepted clinical practice, and NCLEX preparation. The student is expected to apply and analyze knowledge and skills from basic and upper-division education to plan, organize, coordinate, and deliver patient centered care. With a framework built on the NCLEX patient care categories, the practicum course provides continuity and experience to foster clinical judgment, use of evidence based practice, effective interdisciplinary collaboration, and appreciation of diversity within the context of the nursing role.
Lecture SPRING. Prerequisite(s): NURS 310 Health Assessment, NURS 320 Fundamentals of Nursing Practice with Older Adults, NURS 370 Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice, NURS 360 Adult Health Nursing Practice I, NURS 400 Adult Health Nursing Practice II, NURS 330 /NURS 340 Concepts of Pathophysiology & Pharmacology I & II, and NURS 410 Nursing Practice of Women and Children.
