Study Abroad Program

Dr. Donna Waldron, Dean of Global Engagement
Mr. Guy Armstrong, Global Engagement and International Student Coordinator

Campbell University Study Abroad (CUSA) offers students the opportunity for international study in locations all over the world. Campbell students may study abroad with a group in a Campbell faculty-led program or as an individual through any pre-approved international program. A program can range from a few weeks to an entire semester or an academic year; internships, service learning, field studies and intensive language school programs are also available. All opportunities are coordinated through the Global Engagement Office in Kivett Hall 102 and 115.

Students in good standing with a GPA of 2.5 or above are eligible for international study in approved programs and partnerships. All students must apply at the Global Engagement Office and requirements vary per program. The optimal time for study abroad is frequently the sophomore or junior years, but even first year students, seniors, alumni and friends are eligible for some programs under some conditions. Campbell students work with the Global Engagement Office to find a program to suit the needs of their majors and personal interests. Students may earn credits abroad to apply to graduation. Credit hours earned by a student registered in a study abroad program count as hours earned in residency.

Faculty-Led Programs

Campbell professors design courses to teach abroad and lead travel connected to academic disciplines. Faculty-led programs are constantly growing and changing based on student and faculty interest. New programs are in constant development. Faculty-led programs in the past have been to Costa Rica, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Tanzania, Guatemala, Spain, Chile, Austria, Israel, Greece and The Netherlands. The Global Engagement Office also enables students to pursue a select number of intercultural programs in the United States.

Programs with Partners and Exchanges

Students may apply for a wide variety of partner or exchange programs approved by the Global Engagement Office. Campbell’s domestic and international affiliates offer diverse opportunities for every major. Some students participate in international internships. Application and requirements vary per program. Campbell students have studied with partners in over thirty different countries, including a semester exchange program with Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka, Japan.
