Degree Requirements

In addition to the requirements of the academic major, students must comply with the General Academic Regulations for Graduation  and Undergraduate Academic Policies .  As part of these policies, students must complete the General College Curriculum , which is based on the degree.

Major Requirements

Candidates for a Bachelor of Science major in Homeland Security, must complete the following eleven required courses:

• HSEC 200 - National and International Security (3)
• HSEC 220 - Homeland Security (3)
• HSEC 300 - Research and Writing for Homeland Security (3)
• HSEC 340 - Critical Infrastructure Protection (3)
• HSEC 350 - Terrorism: Foundational Concepts (3)
• HSEC 360 - Intelligence and National Security (3)
• HSEC 415 - Briefing for Government Professionals (3)
• HSEC 490 - Internship in Homeland Security (3)
• HSEC 495 - Senior Seminar in Homeland Security (4)
• CSEC 255 - Introduction to Cybersecurity (3)
• MATH 160 - Elementary Statistics (3)

  Take one of the following courses:

• POLS 332 - Emergency Preparedness and Response (3)

• or

• HSEC 330 - Emergency Management (3)

• HIST 111 - Western Civilization I (3)
• HIST 112 - Western Civilization II (3)
• HIST 221 - United States History I (3)
• HIST 222 - United States History II (3)
• POLS 229 - The National Government (3)
• POLS 230 - State and Local Government (3)
• MATH 160 - Elementary Statistics (3) and MATH 111 or higher
• CRIM 231 - Introduction to Criminal Justice (3)
