English Requirements in the General College Curriculum
All students must complete ENGL 100 - ENGL 102 (first-year writing courses) and a 200-level ENGL literature course. - English 100 may be waived with any of the following: (1) SAT-EBRW score of 500 [SAT-EBRW score 450 if taken prior to March 2016]; (2) ACT- English score of 19; (3) ACCUPLACER-English score of 250; (4) TOEFL score of 80 or equivalence in IELTS, Duolinguo, etc.
- English 101 may be waived with any of the following: (1) SAT-EBRW score of 730 [SAT-EBRW score 700 if taken prior to March 2016] AND high school English GPA of 3.0; (2) ACT-English score of 31 AND high school English GPA of 3.0; (3) ACCUPLACER-English score of 276.
Completion of ENGL 100 with a minimum grade of C (or waiver) is the prerequisite for ENGL 101 . ENGL 101 (or waiver) is the prerequisite for ENGL 102 . ENGL 102 is the prerequisite for all English courses numbered 201 and above. ENGL 300 (Literary Research and Criticism) is a pre-requisite to ENGL 400-level courses. English Major Requirements
English Electives
Take 3 hours of English Electives 300 level or above not already taken. Admission Requirements for Teacher Education
In addition to general admission requirements for Campbell University, students seeking initial North Carolina Teacher Licensure must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program prior to their junior year. Admission requirements for Teacher Education include a 2.7 overall GPA, a grade of “C” or better on all content area and education courses and passing the Core Praxis Exam (or acceptable SAT/ACT scores). If a teacher education candidate does not meet the North Carolina Licensure established score on the SAT/ACT for admittance into the teacher education program, they are automatically enrolled in EDUC 106 and/or EDUC 107 in order to prepare for the CORE PRAXIS (Math and/or Reading).
